Two horses found found @ 6:30am this morning ( Sun 6/26 ) in New Milton, WV 10 miles south of West Union along Rt. 18
- Dun – Stallion
- Mare
Posters are up in the surrounding area and an equine phone tree is working in 3 counties. If the owner is not found within 30 days after being posted at the courthouse, the sheriff will sell at auction unless homes are found for them.
Found at the junction of St. Rt. 18 south and Porto Rico Rd. in New Milton, WV. Looks like they have been traveling for a while, but appear healthy and well nourished. One Bay & one Buckskin. Neither wearing halters. Managed to catch the Buckskin and the Bay just followed us home. Both now safely in stalls while we search frantically for their owners.

No owner, but these horses have been found a home with my neighbor who is not only a great girl, but a rescuer of all critters!! They will live pampered and happy lives!
I would recommend filing a report with Stolen Horse International – http://www.netposse.com/
They allow you to list found horses for free. There is a chance the owners are still looking for them, and they don’t know where to look.
ps: For anyone intersted, WV code 19-18-9 covers impounding stock when owner is unknown.
